Sneaky Sony

It turns out the recent $100 price drop on the 60gb PlayStation 3 was to serve more than one purpose.  First off it did attract more buyers.  Second it allowed Sony to release the 80gb version at the $599 price point that the 60gb used to occupy.  The 60gb version will now join the 20gb one in obsolescence, the only new PS3′s being made are the 80gb, so once all the 60s are gone from store shelves people will once again be forced to pay $599 to get a PS3.

The Nintendo Wii only comes in one flavor, it hasn’t changed at all since launch day and it continues to outsell both the PS3 and XBox 360.  Things may change in September however with the release of Halo 3 on the 26th.  Several people have been in to pre-order Halo 3 already, so I expect that one will be a good seller.
