Are you fricken kidding me? A little blurb I read on CJLS news this afternoon still has me fuming. Things have been going from bad to worse when it comes to tourism around here, we all know it, all except for the people who run the town apparently.
“It’s a small glimmer of hope at the end of a dismal tourism season in western Nova Scotia. The province is giving serious consideration to creating a new identity for the area. If approved, this region will be known as “Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Travelway” and it would extend from the Sissiboo River to the Yarmouth/Shelburne county line.”
I really hope there’s more to this than simply coming up with a new name for the area. Oh wait, of course there’s more to it, there’s all the money they’re going to have to spend getting the various tourism guides and brochures updated. And the road signs. And radio and TV advertising. I suppose they’ll probably have to hire some new people as well. Then to top it all off we’ll have to wait until the end of next summer to see if it helped any. (I’m sure it won’t)
