That New Place Across the Street

172 words eaten alive on November 6, 2007 - Filed Under Business, This Town -

That new store I wrote about a couple days ago, Glamour Sources, turns  out it’s not a retail store.  Their a wholesaler of beauty & hair care products, and if you don’t work at a hair shop/beauty salon, you’re not allowed to shop there.

Now I’m really confused.  Why would a wholesaler open a shop on Main Street, in the retail sector, looking just like a retail store, if they’re not going to sell to the general public?  They’re going to spend most of their time just explaining to people that ‘Yes, we look like a store, but you need to leave.’  It should be fun to watch next summer when all the touri… oh wait, what tourists?…  Never mind, nothing to see here, move along please.

Wouldn’t it make more sense for a wholesale distributor to either be in a warehouse with a showroom, or at least on a back street where they’re not so visible to wandering downtown shopp… oh wait, what shoppers?… Never mind, nothing to see here, move along please.
