Staples is the Culprit?

Had a funny question from a customer tonight as he was buying a new computer game. “So, are you guys planning to be around for a while?” Strange I though, maybe it’s his first time here, so I replied that we’ve been in business for 8 years and don’t plan on going anywhere. After that he mentioned about the other stores that are closing down, and told us a little more about what he heard direct from Comp R Us.
Apparently the guys at Staples have been reporting the smaller stores to Microsoft. Whenever someone would bring a computer in to Staples to have work done on it, they would run the Windows Genuine checker on it to see if the copy was legal. If it wasn’t, they would ask the customer who they got the computer from, and then proceed to file a report with MS to rat out the little guys. Just another example of the big boys using bullying tactics to get the little guys out of the way and gain more of the market for themselves.
