Morning Scare

March 14, 2008 - Filed Under kids, Life -

Chloe had some dental work done last Friday, March 7. They had to put her to sleep for it. Her work consisted of 6 fillings and 6 silver caps. Overall she was really good about it, she followed the nurse down to the OR without even crying. She sulked a while afterwards but that’s to be expected since her mouth was hurting. Her gums swelled up a bit around the caps, which is normal, but basically she was fine after a couple of days.

Until Wednesday morning. Imagine the shock my wife got when she went into Chloe’s room in the morning to get her up, and saw blood all over the place. Patches on her sleeves, on her pillows, some on the floor and a huge patch on the bed sheet. And her mouth was still bleeding. Not gushing out or anything, but it was all red inside so it was hard to even tell where it was coming from. A quick call to the dentist and he was able to squeeze her in around 11:30 to take a look and see what’s up.

He said everything looks normal to him, he figures she probably just bit her cheek while sleeping, or maybe her gums if they had swollen up a little more during the night. Chloe was good through the whole ordeal, which is very surprising considering how she normally gets pretty upset at the mention of blood.

We obviously never thought to take a picture of the bed during the commotion, but imagine seeing this on your kids bed first thing in the morning.

Chloe is such a good girl. Am glad she is fine. MB was very brave too, by not screaming or crying in front of Chloe when she saw that. I think being composed when dealing with such situation helps a lot eh? If I were her, I would have yelled, screamed and cried. Too scary :(
