Even though the house we bought was new, we still had a home inspection done before we signed the papers. While it wasn’t really needed for a new house we still felt it was a good idea. If buying an older home I’d think it would be absolutely necessary to make sure everything is in good order. Cracks in the foundation, rotting timbers or mesothelioma inducing asbestos in the walls are just a few of the things you’d need to worry about when moving into an older home.

You would be surprised by the issues that i do find in new homes. The state of Texas is now requiring inspections of every new home in the state this year to prevent any issues from arising later. However, I will admit that most new homes that I inspect do not have major problems.
