Seafest Coming : Gator Byte

Seafest starts this year on July 16th. One of the really interesting things I’ve noticed this year is that they’re not going to allow people to park on Main Street during the parade. The primary reason is cited as being for safety reasons, so that emergency vehicles will still have room to travel through during the parade (never mind the fact that nearly all the town emergency vehicles are IN the parade every year.)

I see this new rule as a good thing though, my main beef has always been that it’s too hard to see the parade if you’re standing on the sidewalk because of the amount of cars, trucks and vans parked in the way. This year people will be able to pull up some lawn chairs and see everything easily. Some naysayers are claiming this will drive people away from the down town but I think it will really attract more people since the visibility will be much better.
