Got an Opinion in Yarmouth? Too bad!

I stopped buying the Vanguard over a year ago because I didn’t feel it was worth it. The ‘news’ is usually not that new and the only interesting thing were the Letters to the Editor. Most of the news that’s in the Vanguard also gets posted to their online website, NovaNewsNow (click on County of Yarmouth). Nova News is set up similar to a blog, allowing reader comments and interaction by the public. Until a couple days ago that is, it seems that the comments section has been disabled. That’s not all! They also delete entire articles when they see fit, or more likely when people take too much interest in the subject.
Last week there were a couple articles I took interest in and commented on, one was about the YMCA and the other about the new ‘plan’ for the Port. Several other people were commenting on these articles as well, but during the weekend those 2 items were deleted completely. Not just the comments, the entire news story.
So apparently the people of Yarmouth aren’t allowed to have opinions in town controlled public media. Well, feel free to comment here, I’m not town controlled!
