Online Radio

Living in a town with 1 radio station can make it difficult to hear new music, especially since hard rock/heavy metal is what I normally listen to. I’ve been introduced to more ‘new’ music through Rock Band & Guitar Hero then pretty much any other method of listening. So what do you do when your collection gets a little stale? Head online! There’s thousands of online radio stations to listen to whether at home or at work.

I signed up at OnlineRadioStations.com for free this morning after seeing a contest related to it at johnchow.com (you can win up to $4000, check it out!). Out of over 4000 available stations to choose from, I’ve been listening to the Medieval Radio station, it’s all been heavy metal so far and most of it was pretty good.

It’s an easy site to navigate and no matter what type of music you like you’ll be able to find several good choices to listen to. There’s also news, talk, humor, etc… The only downside I can see so far is that it doesn’t tell you the name of the song currently playing. There also seems to be no DJ’s, just song after song, so if you hear something cool that you’ve never heard before, you may have a hard time tracking it down. Aside from that though it’s great and kills the need for getting a satellite radio or constantly swapping CDs here in the store.
