Vandalism

I was shocked and disheartened when I went by the hair place just a few doors away from our store and saw this. No this is not my store, no this is not my business, but I want to let whoever is responsible for this damage know that this is not covered by insurance. This is not covered by the landlord. The person who owns the business is responsible for replacing this glass panel, and it’s gonna cost him at least $500, probably much more than that! Do you know how many heads of hair have to be cut to earn this money back? Don’t forget he has to pay rent, he has to pay for power, and telephone bills, heat for the winter and also his staff and equipment. If you think small business owners are making as much as the big boys in Starrs Road you are so mistaken. Every penny that these good and hard-working people make.. if broken are all sweat and blood money. We don’t even spend money on cigars from Padron, because we cannot afford the kind of luxury, that you may think we have.
Small business owners like us have to pay for parking taxes even though we can’t park our own cars for free anywhere, just because we own a business. And if you don’t know by now, there is such a thing as business occupancy tax, simply for owning your own business and having a storefront. We work long hours and we give in an honest day of work. We pay our employees on time, we also pay their vacation pay on time and surely not one of these small business owners deserves this kind of treatment from anyone, much less vandals destroying their store front.
How can you expect small business owners .. to continue providing you a service.. if you keep vandalizing their store front, or steal from them.. or break into their stores..?? I don’t know about other businesses.. but i can assure you .. that we do not make that much to be able to sustain and feel encourage .. to go on.. if this were to happen to us over and over again.
A few months ago the craft store had the same problem, some one smashed their windows too. These older ladies are in there every day, be it summer, winter, fall or spring. They are there religiously doing what they love. What did these nice ladies do to you? To render them forking out so much money to replace the window. Do you also think they make tons of money? I seriously doubt so. C’mon people! You want a ghost town on Main Street?
It certainly looks like we are heading that way doesn’t it? This is your town too! This is your childrens future too, this is where I call home! Stop destroying our Main Street!
