Music Week in Yarmouth

Despite all the hubbub over the event, and the down town “planners” requesting that we stay open longer than normal hours in order to accommodate all the extra people who would surely be in town, we noticed hardly any extra business during the music week festivities. I’m sure the restaurants and hotels did much better than usual though, and that’s a good thing. Overall from what I hear it was a great success and I hope to see more events like this come to the area.
As for us, I only noticed maybe half a dozen new faces in the store. Other businesses downtown didn’t see anyone new at all. No flocks of music loving patrons swarming the shops, no promoters in tuxedos roaming around announcing which band was playing where, and worst of all CJLS didn’t even play music by the bands who were taking part. That would have gone a long way toward letting people hear a sample and encourage them to go take in the whole show. Maybe next year, I’ll drop a note in their suggestion box about it.
