Gamer’s Dungeon

Posted on June 24, 2010 - Filed Under Business, gaming | Leave a Comment

I’d like to have a place here for people to sit and play Magic, and run some small scale tournaments, maybe even Friday Night Magic eventually. The big problem is space, there’s just no room here to set up tables and chairs in the 4′ aisles. I’ve been thinking of cleaning a bunch […]

Movie Gallery is no longer renting movies and has started their liquidation sale, currently all movies and games are on sale for 20% off the sticker price. Not a great deal, yet, since a newer movie that’s tagged at $19.99 will cost you $16. Before the liquidation started they had a buy 2 get 2 […]

Nothin New at Movie Gallery

Posted on June 5, 2010 - Filed Under Business, DVD, Entertainment | Leave a Comment

I went poking around Movie Gallery today to see if those rumors had any truth to them, and while they still aren’t selling wrinkle removers, they also don’t have new DVDs for the last couple of weeks. The Spy Next Door seems to be the newest thing they have, but they were either all […]

Posted on June 4, 2010 - Filed Under Amused, Business, DVD, Entertainment, This Town | Leave a Comment

Someone had called on the phone to ask what movies we have new for the last few weeks, and while we love to help over the phone (even with technical support for computers that weren’t bought from us….) we only have one phone line and usually the store is full of people asking one question […]

I Worked Downtown Day

So we’ve been told or encouraged to buy a t-shirt for $10 or $15 to show that we worked downtown – it’s at Pier 1 – right behind us and not on Main Street – weird place to have an event if you asked me.  And then the Business and Employment Center is hosting a […]

I’m cheaper than Walmart!

Posted on June 2, 2010 - Filed Under Business, gaming | Leave a Comment

On Magic cards at least. No idea about Prototype 37-c (since I don’t even sell that), but I’m the cheapest in town when it comes to Magic: the Gathering booster packs at $4.42 + tax a pack. The other hobby shop is charging $5 + tax and Walmart is the highest at $5.42 […]

Another Small Business disappears

Posted on June 2, 2010 - Filed Under Business, This Town | Leave a Comment

Just heard today that Chez Bruno closed up this week. Even the employees didn’t get notice, they showed up for work to find the place locked up tight. Whether he’s fallen victim to the fact that there is no ferry to the states this year is unclear at this point, although I’m sure […]

Tossing some Junk

Posted on June 1, 2010 - Filed Under Business | Leave a Comment

Digging through the basement today trying to find some more VHS movies to fill up the bin, I passed by a box full of outdoor décor stuff. Junk stuff, leftover parts of garden light sets, potted plant holders and a broken windmill. I must have kept it with the intention of fixing it […]

Yarmouth Backpackers closed

Posted on June 1, 2010 - Filed Under This Town | Leave a Comment

While not necessarily a victim of the declining tourist industry, the Yarmouth Backpackers Accommodation has closed up as of yesterday. The owners have sold the property and are moving back to Australia. The new owners will be re-purposing the building but at the moment I don’t know what that new purpose will be.
Located […]
