I Worked Downtown Day

So we’ve been told or encouraged to buy a t-shirt for $10 or $15 to show that we worked downtown – it’s at Pier 1 – right behind us and not on Main Street – weird place to have an event if you asked me.  And then the Business and Employment Center is hosting a BBQ and you have to pay $5 for it – that goes to the food bank.  I forsee very little participation – because the other day we went for a bank event – in support of another organization and they let you donate whatever you like.   So here I was reading about orlando timeshare minding my own business and having a coffee at Tims and someone said to me  – what prizes is Gator Byte gonna give me if I go to your store – LOL!

Love this town – love the organizers – love their enthusiasm but with 3 businesses either closing or selling out – I can’t see any reason why I want to celebrate working downtown.  Plus as you can see – moral is really low -  in this part of town – if you haven’t noticed lately – because it sure seems to me – no one cared.  It has been a few days since I’ve heard about these businesses going under – but have I seen a report of it at CJLS?  Nope!   and why?  Shouldn’t people be made aware of our dire state?  When Jeff Hipson of Paper Trail closed it doors – did anyone say their goodbyes?  When the Chan’s sold their restaurant to Lotus Garden – and left for Toronto – did the town thank them for their service -  for more than 20 years?    Many left town disheartened and some broken – how many more is going to leave?  How can I celebrate?  Can you?  I seriously feel for these people and thank our loyal customer/s – for staying with us – but yet i cannot feel festive about how downtown is.
