Worst Part of the Job
Posted on November 15, 2008 - Filed Under Business, Ranting | Leave a Comment
I think the worst part of this job is when I end up having to spend half a day in court because someone sold me a stolen item and I then get called in as a witness. So far it’s only happened twice in 9 years, so I guess it’s not too bad, but [...]

I’ll start this off with the obvious. M. Night Shyamalan needs to STOP MAKING MOVIES, NOW! He made one really good movie, The Sixth Sense, and ever since then they’ve been getting worse and worse. The Village was at least watchable and still held some sense of surprise until near the end, [...]

Here’s what happens when a customer goes a little bat-shit insane. I haven’t heard his side of things, but according to the girl who was working the guy came in with a game he had bought the day before. He said it wasn’t working, and when she tried to explain to him that [...]

Well, I just found out that Yarmouth does in fact have a mega yacht dock now. It was put in this summer and after seeing a picture of it in the Vanguard I was like, WTF? THAT’s a mega yacht dock? That little strip of wood floating in the harbour?!? After [...]

After ‘ruling’ Yarmouth for the last 20 odd years, Mayor Crosby has finally been given the old heave-ho. Most years I don’t think anyone even ran against him, but finally Phil Mooney stepped up to say it’s time for change, and the voters agreed. Phil dominated the polls with 1781 votes compared to [...]

Years back we had one garbage can. Then recycling was introduced and we had a garbage can and a blue bag. After that it was decided that throwing food into the garbage was a bad thing, and composting was introduced. So we had a garbage can, a blue bag and a compost [...]

There’s a lot of ‘planning’ going on in this town lately in regards to the town owned oceanfront property along Water Street all the way down as far as Bunkers Island. Are those tanks on Bunkers even in use any more?
Some speculate that we’re going to get a mega yacht dock, others claim a [...]
Seafest Coming

Seafest starts this year on July 16th. One of the really interesting things I’ve noticed this year is that they’re not going to allow people to park on Main Street during the parade. The primary reason is cited as being for safety reasons, so that emergency vehicles will still have room to travel [...]

As usual we’re open even though it’s a national holiday. Business tends to be pretty good on this day but so far this time it’s been really quiet. The weather started out pretty dreary though but now that the sun is breaking through I see more people out and about. I spent [...]

Heard about a month ago that another local business is going to be closing it’s doors before the summer is over. He hasn’t done his big announcement yet so I’ll keep the name private for now, but it’s a shame to see it go. Yet another victim of the big box stores that [...]

I’ve been arguing with myself for a long time now as to whether I should post this or not. On one hand it didn’t affect me directly and he does have his right to privacy and all that, but on the other hand he’s a damn thief.
This story started about a little over a [...]

In the last week 5 people have been arrested here in good ol’ Yarmouth on charges of the possession and trafficking of crack/cocaine. There were two separate arrests where 3 people were picked up from an apartment on Cliff Street and the other 2 were from central town near the schools.
Two of them are [...]
